About Hotel Litli Geysir
Hotel Litli Geysir is a 3-star hotel near Iceland’s famous Stokkur Geysir. The hotel serves as a cheaper alternative to its sister hotel, Hotel Geysir, which is a 4-star hotel. These are both run by the same company. In fact if you decide to have breakfast (separate from the price of the room), you have that in Hotel Geysir.
Hotel Litli Geysir is a long, single-storey T-shaped building with its own gravel carpark. Parking is free for guests and there are even charging points for electric vehicles (two at the time of writing).
When you enter the hotel, you will see reception immediately on your left. This is where you check in. Checkout is done by leaving your keycard in a basket the morning you leave.
Location
Hotel Litli Geysir directly opposite from Stokkur Geysir, Iceland’s most famous and regularly erupting geyser. Located on Route 35, you can wake up in the morning, walk across the zebra crossing and see this marvel in les than 5 minutes.
Just down the road is also Bru Horsefarm. For this journey I recommend having a car or using the local bus because the road does not have a designated pedestrian area in the margins (which are just grassy banks).

About the Room
The room was a standard 3-star hotel room with a layout that you could find at any hotel around the world. You walk through the door and immediately to one side is the toilet. The more unique feature in this hotel is that the room is a wet room and therefore raised in comparison to the floor of the main room.
In addition to single beds, the rooms also have a desk, chair, kettle, and coffee and tea-making facilities in the rooms. They also come with towels and bed linens. Heating comes from a modern radiator under the window.
The good
The location is definitely the main draw for Hotel Litli Geysir. Otherwise it was nearly indistinguishable from any other hotel room.
The bad
There was a weird noise coming from outside for a few hours in the evening that I thought might be something to do with the running of the hotel. We originally thought it might be the heating system as we only heard it on when the heating was on. However the sound stopped after a while. Otherwise we had no complaints.
What I did while there
Here are some things to do in the area:
Verdict
While I did not dislike the hotel, there is nothing really in the area that would draw me again where I would need to stay here. If that changes, I would not mind staying here, although if I were to stay for an extended period of time, I think renting a house would be a more sensible solution.
