Location
Lostwithiel is a small town that has a certain charm to it. Formerly a tin-mining town, it is known today as being the antique capital of Cornwall. It has been around since Norman times and is located in the middle of a picturesque area of the country.
From the imposing Restormel Castle to the Duchy Palace and 14th century church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, everywhere you look you will see beautiful preserved reminders of Cornwall’s past in the town.
Best Western Fowey Valley is 10 minutes from the Eden Project by car.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are only 12 miles away and the stunning National Trust Lanhydrock House is just 3 miles away. The area has many little fishing villages. Other local beaches and beauty spots include Carlyon Bay, Par and Polkerris.

The good
100% would recommend. Would definitely go back if I am in the area again
It was an excellent hotel with very friendly staff. The food was also delicious and the Covid-prevention measures that are in place are top-notch. We felt safe the entire time and we enjoyed our stay. The hot and powerful shower was definitely a highlight!
The bad
For my taste the beds were somewhat hard but plenty of pillows were provided. I simply slept on top of them. The rest of the family were perfectly comfortable.
Response to my review
Here is what the owners had to say:
Thank you for your lovely review. I really do think that having a guest say that they felt safe during their stay is the highest compliment we could be paid at the moment! I do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you again soon. Kind Regards
Jane
What I did while there
I spent a long weekend in January 2022 at the Best Western Fowey Valley with my grandmother. The main point of going was to treat my grandmother to a visit to the Eden Project as neither of us had been at that time.
We drove down, spent two nights here, and then went back while using the full day in the middle to visit Eden.
Verdict
I would stay here again. The town of Lostwithiel was a nice one to wander around and the A390 passing through the middle made it convenient to get to by car.
It was also very convenient to get to Par and the Eden Project and the parking behind the hotel had more than enough space for everyone driving to this location.
