About R Hotels Inn
R Hotels Inn is a business hotel that welcomes Japanese and international business travellers. At the time of writing, it seems that the Asahikawa location is the only one they have, so it is not a chain. On the ground level is a small parking lot. They also have a garage next door where you can park your car.
The second floor is where reception is. There is one elevator for the hotel, so you can either use the stairs to get to reception from outside or enter the ground floor, then go up in the lift. It always stops here for security reasons.
The hotel also has a small gym, small business centre and self-serve café area, and a dining room for breakfast on this floor as well.
Location
R Hotels Inn is located on the main pedestrian stretch of Asahikawa, running through the centre of the downtown area. Less than 1 km is Asahikawa station, from which you can get to many places in the area by train or bus.
Asahikawa is a very walkable city for the most part. However it is recommended to go by bus to the outerlying areas, such as Asahikawa Zoo and Ueno Farm.

About the space
I stayed in a single, smoking room (which is cheaper than a non-smoking room). As it was a corner room at the end of the hall, it was larger than a standard single room. It was equipped with the standard things Japanese business hotel rooms come with: desk, chair, TV, air conditioning, hair dryer, etc.
The good and the bad
Here is my review on Agoda.com:
I stayed at Rhotels in early July while visiting Asahikawa and the Furano region to see the flowers. The hotel is only a couple of minutes walking from the station, so it is very conveniently located. Reception is on the 2nd floor. I stayed in room 501, a corner room meant for 1 person. For this purpose it was very good. Although the Wifi was a bit slow (I think my room was probably the furthest away from the router on that floor), it was reliable. The room was slightly larger than a standard Japanese hotel room of a comparable hotel (this is because it was a corner room). One thing to note is that the beds are extremely hard, so you will feel like you are sleeping directly on the ground or a piece of wood. If you like very hard beds, this won’t be a problem for you but I also found simply sitting on the bed to be uncomfortable. Apart from that, the room was very good!

Verdict
I think if I travel to Asahikawa again, I would stay in a different hotel. Because of the hardness of the bed, I did not sleep well during my stay. As a result I always felt tired and so did not do as much as I could have.
There are other, similar hotels in the area that I believe would be better candidates. These include Dormy Inn, APA Hotel, and Route Inn – all of which are chain hotels that I have stayed in and have a better, proven track record for comfort for similar prices.

Love the addition of the map. Gives me an idea of where it is in relation to the island.
