Kanazawa Central Hotel: A Review

About Kanazawa Central Hotel

Kanazawa Central Hotel is a 3-star hotel in downtown Kanazawa that caters to a wide range of clientele. The hotel has the main building and the “Annex” or “East Building”.

Kanazawa Central Hotel is billed as a Japanese business hotel but also offers gender-segregated public baths, its own restaurant, laundry facilities and computers to use in the lobby. There is also free WiFi throughout both buildings and I found it to be strong.

Location

A 4-minute walk from JR Kanazawa Station, Kanazawa Central Hotel features 4 Japanese specialty restaurants, free property-wide WiFi and free-use internet PCs at the lobby.

Kanazawa Central Hotel is a 15-minute drive from the Japanese garden, Kenroku-en. A row of traditional Japanese-style architecture in Higashi Chaya District can be reached in 10 minutes via car from the hotel. Guests can reach 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in approximately 10 minutes by car.

About the space

All rooms are air conditioned and furnished with a TV, fridge and electric kettle with green tea bags. The en en suite bathroom has a hairdryer, slippers and toothbrush sets.

The front desk provides dry cleaning services and luggage storage. Guests can borrow a trouser press during their stay as well. Drinks vending machines are on-site.

The good

While the hotel, especially the east building, was very basic, the room was very clean and there was little to no noise during my stay. The staff were also friendly and both check-in and check-out were simple.

The bad

Not necessarily bad but Japanese hotel rooms are very small compareed to their Western counterparts, so anyone travelling with luggage should kepe this in mind when travelling.

What I did while there

Here are some things to do in the area:

Verdict

Unless I decide to splurge on my accommodation, it is likely that I will stay at Kanazawa Central Hotel the next time I am in the city. It was very conveniently located and good for the price.
