Flið Fisherman’s Village: Beautiful Ocean Views near Reykjavik (Iceland)

About Flið Fisherman’s Village

Flið Fisherman’s Village is located in Álftanes, a town just to the south of Reykjavik. By car it takes about 15 minutes to get to the capital.

The hotel consists of a series of semi-detached cabins as well as some row housing, offering rooms for 2, 3 or 4 people. The rooms come with either single and/or double beds, a kettle, mini fridge, and hair dryer.

Location

Flið Fisherman’s Village sits on the end of a peninsula to the south of Reykjavik and offers some amazing views over the ocean. In addition to the hotel, there are also several fields of horses, a beautiful sand beach with many seashells that is exposed at low tide, and a very tranquil atmosphere.

It is also an excellent location to get to/from Reykjavik if you have a car. This journey takes about 15 minutes, depending on where in the capital you would like to go.

The good

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at Flið Fisherman’s Village. I think because it was the end of the season, there were not many people there. Between that and the medium number of huts (25 in total) and being surrounded by the ocean, the atmosphere was very tranquil and you felt like, although you were in still civilisation, you could easily sit back, relax and recharge.

The beds were also very comfortable, the shower’s water pressure and temperature were excellent, and I enjoyed the large windows which let in a lot of natural light. We also had one of the cabins closest to the end of the peninsula, so we had unobstructed views of the ocean, the sunset and our surroundings.

The bad

There are no bad things to report!
