About Big Barns Apartment Tagami
Big Barns Apartment Tagami (also known as 短期賃貸ビッグバーンズマンション田上) is a holiday rental located in a suburban neighbourhood in Kagoshima City, Japan. The apartment can sleep a maximum of 4, although if you are spending any length of time here or spending any time in the apartment other than to sleep, I would recommend no more than 2 people. Two can sleep on the sofa which turns into a bed and 2 more can sleep on separate mattress pads on the floor.
Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 8.1 for a two-person trip.

Location
Big Barns Apartment Tagami is located in a suburban area that is easy to reach by car but dos not have good public transport links. You definitely need to have a car to get here and get around, so keep that in mind. Excellent for road trips but not necesssarily for seeing Kagoshima City.
The neighbourhood is quiet and peacefu, so you do not have to worry about noise. You also should not make an inordinate amount of noise, especially during quiet hours.

The good
The location is a quiet suburb of Kagoshima and it feels like many families live here. There was parking (across from the building) available that we used as we came by car. We had an excellent stay, the host was very communicative and flexible. We arrived late (around 10 p.m.) and did a self-check-in. The door was unlocked and the key was on the table waiting for us. We met our host the next day on the way out, who was very nice and friendly. We had an excellent time.
The bad
Everything was perfect. It was sometimes difficult following the hosts instructions/pictures because we arrived at night, so it was difficult to see things, but that was something the host had no control over.

What I did while there
Four of us did a weekend road trip of the Satsuma peninsula. We rented a car from Fukuoka city where we were studying Japanese (How to learn Japanese: my journey) and drove down on the Friday. We stayed here Friday night before going on to Sakurajima island the next day.
Here are some other things in the area:
Verdict
I would definitely stay here again if I had a car and only needed to sleep there. The apartment was very basic and would have been uncomfortable for living there for any longer length of time. It is an excellent place to sleep but I would not do more than that there.
We chose to stay there due to the location and the very cheap price. We decided to spend more money to stay in nicer accommodation on other days, such as the Family Ryokan Kawakyu in Ibusuki the next night, so this was exactly what we wanted for our budget. If this sounds good to you, then I recommend staying there as well!
