Life’s Challenges – An Update

Hello everyone,

I would first like to apologise for the infrequency of posts recently. There have been some things happening in my personal life that I would like to share with you to explain why there haven’t been any new posts recently:

  1. At the end of July I accepted a position at another university to teach courses, including an intensive course in September. As it takes a lot of time to build a curriculum for a course, create/gather materials, program the materials into the online platform (due to Corona, everything is online, including the teaching, which is done through Zoom), create online exams, etc. This has kept my very busy during the month of August.
  2. At the end of August my 5-year relationship ended. We had been trying to make things work but it simply wasn’t working from my side. As we live together, I have been looking for a new place. Unfortunately due to corona and the area where I live, there currently is very little available. I have been searching and spending a lot of time on this but nothing has become available so far. It had reached a point where I might have to stay in a hotel or similar for a while, at least until point 3 occurred:
  3. To add insult to injury, my grandfather died on 9 September. He had been doing poorly for a while now and it wasn’t a surprise but I now need to travel back to the UK to be with my family and mourn with them and support them through this tough time.

Because of all of this I haven’t been able to use this blog nearly as often as I wanted to for the past little while. This should be changing by the end of September as at least the first and third points will have ended. I just ask for your to have a little bit of patience and then we can go on more trips, adventures and language lessons together!

Hope to see you back here soon!
